Let’s play a game of finding commonalities

Welcome to a game of finding commonalities.

Can you spot the two common points in these three screenshots?

It’s quite obvious, first of all, in the three screenshots, there are three writers that I’m not following(this is too obvious, right?).

So, what’s the other common point? Can you see it?

Alright, I’ll reveal the answer: they all appear in my Following tab.

Did you all figure it out?

This game is not the main point.

What I want to discuss is, are you now as puzzled as me?

These three writers are not on my following list, so why on earth do they appear in my Following tab?

I always thought this tab was exclusively for my followings, showing only the articles of those I follow.

Did these articles end up in the wrong place?

As I scrolled down and looked at a few more, I found that out of the first 10 recommended articles, only 2 were from writers I truly follow.

Shouldn’t this Following tab be renamed, or maybe merged with the For You tab? Or is Medium conducting some test again?

I wonder if you’re experiencing the same situation.

I just read an article by Yana Bostongirl, who noticed that the statistics have been a bit off recently. Many writers’ incomes have also plummeted.
